More Details: engineering college During the early 40s there was a long felt need for a full-fledged academic institution at the district head quarters of West Godavari District, A.P. To fulfil this dream, the then chairman of municipal council, Eluru, Late Rao Saheb Damaraju Venkata Rao went on a fund raising campaign and deposited Rs 2 lakh and 17 thousand in the municipal treasury for starting the college. Following this SIR C.R. R. MUNCIPAL COLLEGE came into being on 4th July 1945. It was named after SIR C.R. Reddy, a distinguished scholar and the then Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University. The college came to be treated as an institution under private management by the government since 1947, and the word municipal was dropped from its name.
